Story summary
Toronto-based Promise Robotics signed a multi-year agreement with D.R. Horton, the largest US homebuilder by volume, which will use its Factory-as-a-Service (FaaS) model to produce more than 1,250 homes in the United States. The company turns home designs into robotic instructions and uses KUKA industrial arms to make wall, floor and stair components. Co-founder and CEO Ramtin Attar said it can build a two-storey, two-family home with a basement and garage in one day, excluding electrical, window and plumbing work. Its first FaaS facilities are being set up in Edmonton and Calgary in Canada and in Phoenix.
